Performance Benchmarking


We generate competitor and industry benchmark data when conducting company research & competitor analysis. Benchmarks are collated by taking sales performance, financial performance & profitability, and operational ratios for major firms in a given industry. To give a wider industry view, benchmarking could also take account of smaller independent firms and high margin niche-focused firms. Clients are then able to make valid comparisons of performance and returns between its competitors.

This data can be used to calculate a weighted average benchmark for the industry as a whole, or data can be aggregated in order to illustrate trends in industry growth and returns. This can be replicated at different stages through the supply chain to identify shifts in profits and costs between manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers.

These benchmarks can be based on quantitative measures taken from company accounts or qualitative issues that require primary research. Individual measures can be client-defined, and the basis for the weighting can be tailored to suit the way that best reflects the client’s perception of the market.
